STANDARD OPERATING POLICY

Engine Hose Load Policy

Purpose: To provide a standard and uniform arrangement for hose carried on the engines.

Scope: This policy applies to Engines 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6.

It shall be the responsibility of the company captain to ensure adherence to this policy.

Procedure: The hose loads on all RHFD engines will be arranged so that they are substantially similar.

Crosslays

The front or top crosslay, will be equipped with the colored 1 3/4 “ hose lengths. Each front crosslay will have a 15/16” or 1” smoothbore nozzle.

The middle or lower cross-lay will have 1 ¾” high-combat hose with an SM-20 automatic nozzle attached.

The rear crosslay will have 2 ½’ hose with an SM-30 automatic nozzle.

Each crosslay shall be filled to capacity.

Rear Hose Beds.

Each engine shall have a 5” supply line, and the first length of 5 “supply line shall be 50 feet in length.

Each engine will have a 3” line of at least 600 feet in length which will have a 2 ½ x 1 ½ x 1 ½ gated wye on its end for use as a “Yard Line’

Each engine will have a 2-½-attack line of at least 300’ in length with a smoothbore stack-tip as the nozzle.

Additional beds will be equipped as appropriate.

Colored hose is assigned as follows:

Engine-1 White

Engine-2 Green

Engine-3 Yellow

Engine-4 Red

Engine-6 Blue
